Betta Happier Alone?

Hi everyone! :) I've had my first betta for over 3 weeks now. Since I just got a 2.5 gallon tank, the thought of getting a suitable tank mate came to mind. On the other hand, I've heard that male bettas are actually happier by themselves. Is this true? :)

Well anything under 10 gallons is too small for another fishie friend. In a small tank he would prefer to be alone.
Some shrimp may be an option however. :)

Oh okay, thank you!! If one shrimp there, would you still be able to clean the tank once a week? I'm thinking of doing a 100% change weekly......

Shrimp don't really make messes like fish, you could do 3-5 without altering your water change schedule. :)
Your Betta may decide to eat them though, so give em lots of hiding places!

In a 2.5 gallon with 1 betta you should be doing two water changes weekly, one 50% and another 100%.

10 Gallon Tank:
~Countless Pond Snails~1 Espe's Rasbora~1 Harlequin Rasbora~

5 and 5.5 Gallon Tanks:
~empty~

Many of my scaly friends from my original tank from 2011 have passed, except for two! I am in the process of re-doing my tank. :)
