Betta with an algea eater someone please help

i'm tring to figure out if I would be able to put a small algea eater in with a betta in a 5 gal tank. It is a male betta that is by himself. also the tank doesn't have any visible algea in it. Does algea eaters only eat algea or do they also eat food that makes it to the bottom.

Algea Eater, as in Pleco maybe? There are also Chinese Algea eaters which may work, but I have never tried using those.

I know Plecos love ot eat Algea/Shrimp wafers, and they can be fed lettuce, zucchini and others.

I do not know if they would be compatible with a betta. The tank might be too small to add something else as well.

Do you want to add one, or do you feel you need to?

a pleco is fine with a betta but will grow way to big for a 5g, try a snail (mystery snail, correct me if they get to big for a 5g) or a couple of shrimp
like cody said it may be to small to add any other fish

Another small algae eating fish is otocinlus. They are very nice and can be fed algae discs. 2 of them cleaned out the algae on all my plants in a 10 gallon in less than a week. Now, I am feeding them because they did such a good job they would be starving if I didn't.
