Otos and plecos and shrimp, oh my

Now that my tank is all set up and ready to finish cycling, I want to know if I could add a single oto or a bristlenose or clown pleco as the cleaning crew. Three of the five girls that are going into the sorority will have nothing to do with pellets, (not even with garlic juice!) so fallen flakes are an inevitability, and look especially ugly on the black sand substrate. If it's a no on the bottomfeeders, could I just add a multitude of ghost shrimp or red cherry shrimp?
EDIT: the tank is a ten-gallon, planted with abubias, ludwigia, and an amazon sword. I'm gonna get some driftwood at the next chance I have.

My Betta Buddies:
Male
Prince Kaida (VT)
Bentley (DT)

Female
Roxanne (VT)
Elle (CT)
Korra (CT)
Candy (VT)

Rest in peace, Ralph, Xiang, and Violet...I'm sorry you didn't live to see better care!

BN plec's get too big for a 10, their minimum is 20 gals. Otos need to be in groups BTW. I would stick with the shrimp :)

Good luck with your sorority!

I had 4 cories that did a good job cleaning the ground in my 10, thought they won't clean algae. I had ottos, but they keep dying due to something. Currently only have one in my 40.. need to try and pick from a good shipment. I love the ottos as well.

Ottos are super duper sensitive. I've heard stories of them dying in the way home! Corys make lovely little cleaners but only of leftover food and they wont live off leftovers alone but they are very rewarding fish. BNs are lovely but my BN doesn't do a lot of algae cleaning. His main diet is algae wafers and fresh courgettes (zuccini). Shrimp are probably best for you in that size :)

Gone AWOL....
