10g Tankmates

Hello all so yesterday I got my first betta and I would like to put some bottom feeders in there. My tank still has a divider in it so I would like to add something then in a day or two take the divider out. I was thinking 5 kuli loaches would be pretty cool. Would That work? Im open to any other suggestions.

Whoa! Loaches get quite big, I am sure. I think they can grow to several inches? Then again I could be wrong. *Googles Kuli Loaches* Yup, they get 3-4 inches long. Too big for a 10 gallon, let along 5 of them. Maybe a nerite snail or two. They can eat the stuff, have a little more bio load than a fish, but are smaller and more manageable. Also, they can't spawn/breed/reproduce in fresh water as their eggs require brackish water to mature and develop.

Or perhaps shrimp? Don't go with the overly expensive and rare ones. Chances are you'll loose them to the betta so you don't want him eating a large chunk of change via an animal that way.

You have sand, right? What about dwarf or pygmy Cory Catfish?

Over hundreds of bettas die in their small, dirty cups each day. Only you can help them live. Research and then save them, today!

Ya I was thinking that but they seem like kinda pain to feed and im not a fan to begin with. I have half sand and half bare. Would it be ok if I put 5 in and when they get bigger I can put them in my 30g planted?

Kuli Loaches can be a few inches long but are only about 1/4 inch in diameter. I don't think the 1 inch per gallon really would apply in my opinion though I would go with only 2 or 3 individuals. The thing to remember with those is that they tend to bury themselves in the substrate. You can go weeks without seeing them. Neat when they make an appearance though.
