20 gallon long betta sorority fish comp question

Hi I was wondering if this amount of fish would be ok for a 20 gallon long planted tank.

3 Oto's
7 neon tetras
7 cherry shrimp
7 female bettas

i might get the oto's tomorrow because I'm having trouble with algae in my tank. and most of my dwarf hairgrass and glossostigma plants are turning yellow-brown and has some string stuff covering it as well.I haven't gotten any fish yet and was wondering on how to proceed.

thanks

It sounds okay to me except the cherry shrimp with that many Bettas one is bound to be a shrimp eater.

Ok but the Otos will do a good job of eating the algae? Because if they do I won't get the shrimp then. Thanks

Yes the Otos are great algae eaters but i would wait a while after the tank is setup to add them so there is algae also dont add them all at ounce add them species by species dont forget to cycle.

Ok, ya my tank has been running for over 5 weeks and I've got a lot of plants in my tank. So I'll add the otos first, get the neon tetras and quarantine the tetras and get some bettas. And when the tetras and bettas passed the quarantine period I should add them both at once in the tank? Or add the tetras first and then the bettas?

I would add the otos last so the fish can create nutrients and let algae grow unless you see a lot of algae otos are very sensative to nitrate.

Oh I also was wondering if instead of neon tetras would the lamp eye tetra be compatible?

I would not add anymore fish but can nit wait to see your tank you should get different strains of neons to show diversity.
