Shrimps and Snails

Yay I got two ghost shrimp and a snail for the new 10 gallon tank, haven't added Phoenix in yet since I think the female is going to be having babies. I see eggs. Loving my snail Tesla so far, it's a golden mystery snail. I have a question though, mystery snails are not the ones who can carry eggs are they? I think it's Apple snails who do that but just want to make sure so I don't wake up in a week with 50 snails. Looks like I'm already going to be attacked by shrimp babies :D I'll get pics soon.

I am pretty sure Apple and Mystery are the same thing. There are separate genders for them.

Is there a way to tell what gender they are? Or is it as good a guess as any?

Females are bigger than males.

There is a good chance nothing will come of the ghost babies. They are difficult fry to raise, so don't feel bad if they don't make it. The parents will eat them, they have difficulties finding food, etc.

There are other ways to sex a mystery snail, but it can be difficult. If you do end up with eggs and grow the babies out, you could probably sell them pretty easily here in the classifieds section. :)

Remember that the tank your fish lives in is his or her's whole world. Ask yourself this question, and answer it honestly: would you choose to live there?

But the eggs would have had to been fertilized by a male.

Well after the first 24 hours my snail seems fine, eating, crawling along the glass, doing snail things but my shrimp don't look so good. Both are laying on their sides and wont eat. I have a filter, baffled for betta once I add her and I have food for them but what's wrong? Did I just get defunct shrimp? They seemed happy and active yesterday. I don't know if because there are only two they are stressed out?
