Ten gal divided...Companions to a female?

Hiya there! I've heard mixed reviews on this so decided I should just ask. I have a standard ten gallon divided tank. Right side is a male veiltail, he will remain alone.

THe girl, however, is TINY, and I would love to add some peaceful fish to add some movement to her half. Is this possible, and if so, what have people found successful with their girls?

Just bought the tank some fun new plants (both live and fake) and will be doing some rearrangement in a bit. Both sides were a bit bare.

I have a 5gallon right now. Two female bettas and one tiny snail. The girls on the first day were chasing each other (no nipping) but I bought them at the same time. After that they settled in and now they are swimming around together. I would only get one snail. I had two in mine and they were starting to mate.

Hm, I will not risk another girl in with her, a sorority of five in a heavily decorated (I say that because the plants were all fake) 10 gal failed.

Might try the shrimp if my petsmart ever gets Cherries in, ghosts wouldn't look good in this tank. As for the snail...as Fishy said, even one snail can propogate, and I've had enough trouble with them in my 5.5 gal planted set up. Knocked back my Java Fern grown, and I'm convinced that's what is giving my old Amazon Sword issues with growing back.

If I had algae issues I would get another oto, he works GREAT with my Cap in the planted. Though...doesn't seem to like the new algae growth I just had to scrub down the terra cotta pots and the Captain America decoration.

No Sorities in a 5 and need 4-5 girls.

Chocolate, I know that, if I ever tried a sorority again I would get AT LEAST a 15 gal.

My dream tank is a 20 gal bow front planted sorority tank.

Okay. I have had 5 females before in a 10gallon. I didn't want that many again. Like I said, mine are doing great together. I was simply stating what I have. At the end I suggest a snail with his female. Plus, I do have an empty 10 gallon right now. I am debating if I want to put them in there or not.

It all depends on the fish, but as a rule, that's a no-no.

My betta: Alpha - DT Male
