Freshwater clams okay in a sorority tank?

My friend just got some freshwater clams and he is wants to give me a couple ones. Would they be okay in a 55 gallon with 17 Female bettas and 12 cories? How big do they get, what do they eat? Any type of special care? Would it overstock my tank? Would they do okay with smooth gravel instead of sand?

I don't know what are you talking about! Me and the voices inside my head will prove you
wrong!

I thought clams were filter feeders and needed green water. And were generally very difficult with feeding needs.

I think they need sand because they burrow into it

they need sand. gravel would be too big for them to sift through their mouths.
if you wanted to switch substrate they'd work from what I've read though

10 HM, 3 HMPK, 5 HMPK fry
8 German Blue Ram, 5 Green Dragon BNP, 4 Albino BNP, 4 Calico BNP, 6 Red BNP, 5 Kuhli Loaches, 2 ADF, 7 Peppered Cories, & 6 Tiger Endlers + Fry
12 full time tanks, 4 NPT, 6 QT/Breeders

Switching the substrate is not an option at the moment. I guess I'll just pass on getting them.
