snail or adf?

I'm looking to add either a snail or an african dwarf frog in with my betta and 3 ghost shrimp in my 5 gallon fluval chi. Any suggestions? If I get a snail I really want something different looking. I had an assassin snail in there for a while but it didn't make it. The betta has not bothered with the shrimp or the assassin I had in there before so he seems to have a mild manner to him. I also do not want a snail that will breed like mad. Thanks for any input. My tank is decently planted with all live plants.

Here's a pic of my tank as it sits now.

I'd say a nerite snail. They'll stay fairly small and I think their combined bioload would be just under what the filtration system handles. I don't know anything on the frog's bioload though :(

I don't know anything about adf's but mystery snail's I've had are awesome! Fun to watch and cute. Some of them get very friendly and I had a black one that used to crawl on my hand to eat.

I have a white one now that likes to play hamster. XD

I would like a nerite for algae control but all my lfs has are the olive shelled ones which look plain to me. Do the mystery snails breed in fresh water? I know nerites need brackish water. Anyone have experience with rabbit snails? They have a different look to them.

Idk about breeding. Mine never bred whenever I had 2, but then I didn't know their genders either.

What's the tank size? If it's a 5G a snail could work, or even 3-4 shrimp. Snails produce a lot of ammonia since they eat a lot so anything below 5G, a snail can't really be in. Or at least there will be a ammonia spike that is.

Over hundreds of bettas die in their small, dirty cups each day. Only you can help them live. Research and then save them, today!

I agree with the above 1000% with mysteries at least. My own Mystery, Honey, tripled in size within 35 days. I moved her from the 1 1/2 gallon I had her in from the day I got her to the 10. With how much she poops... I've siphoned out poop and slime (the latter from stress) twice within three days from the side of the tank she likes to be in.

Lol! You have to see it, but idk how to upload vids XP. Lol, anyways, I made this betta log sort of thing for Cirrus and when I looked later, the snail was turning it like a hamster wheel. XD I took him out cause I thought he might want out but he climbed up and went right back in. XD Thu, he has now been dubbed Hamster aka Hammie.
