Adding a betta to community tank

I have a 5.5 gallon tank, already stocked with 5 Pygmy Cories and 1 Dwarf Goby. The smallest fish is half an inch, and the largest is .75 of an inch. Do you think it would be safe to add a betta because there are already tank mates in there so the betta wouldn't get aggressive?

You are already at stocking level and almost over, will be when the fish are full grown. No room for a betta

The fish are full grown. I checked AqAdvisor and it says that my stocking (cories + betta) would be fine because of my filtration. It says I would only have to do 25% water changes, but I do 50%.

My personal opinion is that is already too many fish for only 5.5 gallons. I suggest getting a 10 gallon for those fish. Then you can use the 5.5 for a second betta! Always a good thing

It must be a super strong filter! Still, I would be afraid that the betta would pick on the other fish in such a small space. You could try it, but keep an eye out in case he/she has to be removed. Maybe put a baby betta in there?

^ Great idea! I was thinking perhaps a small female. I know my friend has a 5 gallon he isn't using, along with a heater, so I could probably snag it if things aren't working out.
