Buddy needs Buddies!

So earlier today when we went to the petstore, we got a Multicolored Halfmoon Tail Betta whom we named Buddy. We have a 2.5 gallon tank all set up for him and everything, but we're at a dilemma.

We want to give him a friend or two, but we arent sure what kinds to get him. We were thinking a few Neon Tetras, but I feel like he might not get along well with fellow rainbow scales? We also would like a snail/bottom feeder of some sort.

So anyway, I would like to ask all of you Fellow Fish friends... What would you recommend for Buddy?? Also, I would like to kindly ask for people not to suggest getting a bigger tank, because we cant afford it and we don't have the room for it. (Just thought i'd throw it out there before someone mentioned it)

2.5 gallons is perfectly fine for a betta.

However, if you cannot get a larger tank, you really should not add any "friends" for him. 2.5 gallons is too small for a betta and other tankmates, unless you possibly want a ghost shrimp or two ... and then be aware that in such a small space, they may become lunch.

I blame spelling mistakes on my iPad. You should too!

i agree with both posters. But if you do get a larger tank in the future, just ask us, and we'll do our best to help. Just don't feel rushed.

You can't fit any more fish in a 2.5 gallon. Maybe a few shrimp or pond snails. No more fish or "buddies"

Bettas don't really want "buddies." They are solitary fish. And your tank is to small for any more tank mates.

Oswald - Blue Halfmoon Male
