If Mystery Snails Float, Are They Dead?

Just asking because I got a shipment of blue mystery snails in the mail, I originally thought they were all dead, but was told to put them into the tank anyway.

5 out of 9 started coming out of their shells and exploring. That made me happy.

The other 4 are just floating in the water. Their trap doors are all closed tight, but there are no signs of movement.

Are the 4 dead or just shy?

Open your eyes
Now is the time

With darkness we'll still shine

When they are dead the trapdoor will not be shut tightly because they no longer have the muscle control to keep it shut. So I would say that they should all be perfectly fine as long the trapdoors stay shut nice and tight.

Floating inside their shell does not mean death. Like fish some snails take longer to acclimate. You can always do the sniff test to check for life.
