Experience with guppies?

I have been thinking of getting some guppies for my 10 gallon. The tank currently has my male betta Sherbert, who can be agressive but is more curious. When I had a mystery snail he would never show any aggression, just curiousity. Of course, it was just a snail. :p
I have heard mixed reviews on keeping guppies and Bettas together, so I wanted to know how it's worked out for you. Should I get some or should I not? Males or females, and how many?
If not guppies, what about Neon Tetras??

Thanks!

I've kept guppies with both males and females and have never had an issue. I would suggest keeping females in with males, they are less flashy and less likely to be attacked.

Contrary to popular belief bettas do not think male guppies are other bettas.

Guppies breed like roaches. Just sayin...
I was hoping my male betta would keep the guppy population down but nah...just more friends for him.

Mine did fine with feeder guppies, not sure about fancies though.

I have my female betta with 4 male guppies ATM. I'm considering 2 more later. Oh and an African dwarf frog. Baby Jr was curious and chased them for the first hour, but they have all settled down nicely.

I am actually considering 2 guppies (1 male, 1 female) for my tank as well. But I suggest getting tetras, my betta and neon tetras are buddies

Deleted this account I have a new one

it really depends on the fish, some bettas will tolerate tankmates, some won't.

Most of my females ignore our guppies, but I have one female who is pretty relentless in chasing the guppies down to nip at them (she lives in solitary now)

When keeping guppies together, it's suggested to keep at least 2 females to every male (if not more girls per boy), because male guppies can be rather persistent in trying to mate with the females, having more than one female means that he's less likely to chase one specific female everywhere, if one hides, he'll go bother another.

2-3 should be enough, but the more the merrier. If you don't want dozens of babies, just stick to males lol
