Question Sorority in a community tank?

I currently have a 120 gallon community tank (tetra, gourami's, couple of angels, cories) and I am thinking of adding a sorority to the tank. Would that work? If so, how many females would you suggest? I currently have 6 male bettas in their own separate tanks ( yes, I have tanks all over the house! Haha) but I haven't had females before. Let me know what you think! Thank you!

I don't think so.. the angelfishes and gouramis are naturally aggressive.

edit: If you want another tank for a sorority, a start off point would a 10g tank with a lot of cover, with 6-7 females. In a larger group, the aggression is more spread out so one girl isn't singled out.

Hmm. I've neve had issues with aggression from either one before, but maybe I will hold off to be safe. Thanks!

Thumbs up

I would recommend 4 or 5 girls and 2 live plants and one good hiding spot.

A man's got to do what a man's got to do.
A woman must do what he can't.

Are you talking about in my existing tank? Or in a different tank? My existing community tank is 120 gallons with lots of plants (real and fake) and rocks and driftwood. I have lots of hiding spots. I might try it anyway. I do have a few empty tanks I could set up if needed. :)

I wouldn't recommend it because of my own experience with my sorority and a dwarf gourami. The dwarf gourami was constantly following around one of my females and touching her with his feelers. He didn't get aggressive, but he was being really annoying and it totally stressed her out. All of my bettas went into hiding and I thought it was because I had just added them to the tank, but as soon as I brought the gourami back to the store, all the bettas came out in the open area and the one who was being harassed didn't have stress stripes anymore.
