Tank mates for Calcifer

This is my boy Calcifer. He's in a 5 gallon tank. He flares at everything! He is on my kitchen counter and the other day is was flaring at my paper towels. lol! Would it be best if I just leave him in the tank alone? What are the chances of him "playing nice" with other fish? Thanks! :)

If he's aggressive, I think you should just leave him alone.

You can't really house other fish with him, unless you divide the tank and put in another male, of course. (; You can also have one small snail, or 2-5 shrimp.

Over hundreds of bettas die in their small, dirty cups each day. Only you can help them live. Research and then save them, today!

Like Lebron said, in a 5g pretty much your only options are divided with another betta, shrimp, or snails.

I wouldn't risk it, unless you go the rout of divided tank for his buddy. Some fish just do better alone.

If you upgraded the tank to 10+ gallons, you'd have the option of other fish, but like the others said, five gallons is far too small for more than one small fish like a betta.

Thank you all! I think I'm going to let him be a bachelor. :) I had him in a 2.5g tank and he is so much happier in the 5g so I don't want to divide it and take that away from him.
