Tankmates for a 5gal?

I just tore down and set back up my 5 gal tank. It's currently empty and has no heater. (I plan to remedy both things.)

I want some Cory Cats, but I'm not sure how many I can have in a 5 gal with a baby betta.

If Cories are a bad idea for a tank this small, what else could I get that would make for good tankmates? I also love shrimp and was sort of interested in Dwarf frogs.

You can't have any other fish in a 5 gallon tank with a betta.

You could try shrimp but remember they prefer a stable tank environment and even a baby betta may hunt them.

A snail is another option. I have never kept the dwarf frogs so not sure about stocking appropriateness for them.

If you want tank mates other than a snail, you'd have to provide more cover and hiding places. Read that as live plants.

Like LBF said, shrimp are an option but they require a mature tank. You could have Pygmy Cories but they also require a mature tank. Google Nano fish and if any appeal, ask if they would work.

But no matter what you choose, it will mean "cover, cover, cover."

I think you can add two ADFs if you're good with your water changes. Use aqadvisor, it's really good!

10 gallon:
1 Dwarf Gourami - Balin
8 Neon Tetras
1 Otocinclus

RIP Plagueis.

I think adfs need more space than 5 gallons. check out the awesome guide to adf care somewhere in this section!!

i would do shrimp or a snail. that's all id feel comfortable with in 5 gallons. even nano fish need shoals and 5 just sees far too small
