Peppered cories hardly ever seen-swim away if I look at them?

They are in 5 gallon temporarily (29 gallon nearly read) I've always thought of cories to be active and noticiable in fish tanks but these fish stay in the back of the tank and I hardly ever seen them. It does not help that the gravel is black. Is this typical?

How long have you had them? Sometime bottom feeder type fish are more active after lights out & like any fish they can take a while to settle in. How many do you have?

At least a few weeks maybe even a month. The do get more active once the lights go out. I don't watch them at night but I notice movement once I shut off the fish lights.

I have peppered cories in one tank, albino in another, and pandas in yet another one. I find that they mostly hide during the day (all three types). Except one panda that seems to always be out and about during the day, swimming around with my sorority. Lol he is weird.

They might get more active once they go into the bigger tank. Also I don't know how many you have but they do best in groups of 5 or more.

Emma, I was thinking of getting some long-finned panda cories for my sorority. You haven't had any issues with the pandas and your girls?

I have 5 now one died. I've decided to change their tank put light colored gravel in it and start quarantine all over again. I've never seen cories act like this. The one's I had in the past were always active and visible.

I have pygmies, albino, bronze, emerald and peppered. We have peppered in two tanks and NEVER see them, unless it's at feeding time. The stay hidden almost 100% of the time. All the other cories are out and all over the place but the peppered seem to like the safety of dark corners, under plants and caves more than anything.

Every kind of cory we have had gets along with bettas both female and male just fine. The bettas just ignore them like they aren't there.
