10 gal. Divided?

So currently I have my two bettas in 2.5 gallon tanks each and one has an apple (mystery?) snail. I was thinking about getting a ten gallon and splitting it. Now i'm either going to split it three ways and get another betta, or split it two ways and add some new friends into the tank. One of my boys is aggresive towards my other betta fish but i'm not sure how he'll do with other fish.
I'm thinking cory catfish, shrimp, or just more snails. Any ideas ?

I had a very similar situation! My boys were in a one and a one and a half gallon tank. Then I got a 55 gallon, so suddenly my ten gallon was free.

I made some dividers myself, which was way easier than I expected, and split it three ways.

I was worried because my double tail Delfino has always been more aggressive, but my boys haven't flared once.

I started off with an empty middle section, but wound up moving Commander over.
