Tankmates for 2.5 Gallon Tank?

Is a 2.5 gallon tank too small to have tankmates? I just got a 2.5 gallon tank and I was wondering if I could get my boy a friend or two. :).

Inverts are the only options I would consider. If your betta has a particularly aggressive personality I would just do without tankmates in genera.

Everything happens for a reason, but the reason isn't always good.

I don't know if he's aggressive yet, as I've only had him for two weeks and he's been alone this whole time. He rarely flares at anything, even his own reflection.

In that case I'd guess he's on the mellower side. Try adding some snails first and see how he reacts.

I just got the tank today, and I'm not putting him in until Wednesday, so I'll keep that in mind.

Also, I have read that snails are like poop machines, which would be a bit of a problem, as I won't have a filter for a while.

In that case I'd hold off on tankmates for now.
