Corries?

Are corries gentle natured? What is their behavior like? What do you recommend I feed them?
My betta is very calm and doesn't seem to care about other fish. I just don't want him to get picked on if I give him tank mates.

Cories are very gentle, peaceful fish. They're omnivores, so I feed mine a mix of algae wafers and frozen bloodworms. They're lovely little fish -- not at all bullies. You'll wonder how you ever kept a tank without them!

The bettas:
Romeo - HM male | Tzekel-Kan - DTHM male | Nemo - CT(?) male | Akio - DTHMPK male | Ares - Delta male | Diablo - SD male | Nameless - VT male | Nameless - DT female
The others:
The Fab Five: Green cory catfish | Maximus: Golden mystery snail | Ichabod & Rosa: African dwarf frogs
Swim in peace, Gaston.

I feed mine wafers and frozen food, too. I found that if I feed very small food, like baby brine shrimp or daphnia, they snuffle around and find it in the sand, while the betta can't seem to gobble them up before the cories get a chance. It's kind of funny to watch the betta during the cory feeding frenzy, darting around like "wait! What are you guys eating?? I see you eating but I don't see food!!" Sometimes if I feed them something bigger my betta swoops in and gobbles it before the cories even get a sniff, then he ends up way overstuffed.

I loooooooove my cories, I think they're so cute.

Haha yes, my betta will see the algae wafer pieces falling through the water and dive-bomb to go get it, but when he reaches it, he just sort of circles it while a cory comes to eat. He looks so confused!
