Cory and Betta help!

I went to PetSmart the other day and got some stuff for my betta tank. There's a crown tailed betta in there and he hasn't been taking care recently so I'm trying to change that. He lives in there with a a Winsteria, Japanese Moss Ball, and a cute cory fish which sticks to the sides. The tank is about 2.5 gallons and I feel as if i overcrowded the tank. The lady at PetSmart said a cory would be good for the tank but he doesn't eat(his algae pellet dont shrink) and I worry for his health. I really want him to be happy, should I move him to a jar and just let the cory live there? Help please!

Extra Info: the betta bullies the cory sometimes

The tank is overcrowded for sure. The employee was incredibly wrong to suggest a cory. Not only are they not supposed to be alone (4+ is ideal), they should be in at least a 10 gallon tank. I'd either upgrade or take the cory back.

The bettas:
Romeo - HM male | Tzekel-Kan - DTHM male | Nemo - CT(?) male | Akio - DTHMPK male | Ares - Delta male | Diablo - SD male | Nameless - VT male | Nameless - DT female
The others:
The Fab Five: Green cory catfish | Maximus: Golden mystery snail | Ichabod & Rosa: African dwarf frogs
Swim in peace, Gaston.

+1 on what Torla said. Cory's don't usually "stick" to the sides, do they? I have 5 peppered Cory's, and they mainly skim the bottom.

My Betta Boys: King (King), Marble (HM), Snoopy (Delta Tail).
My Betta Girls: Emma (CT), Lucy (CT), Margie (CT), Thelma (VT), Louise (VT), Dorinda (VT).
Staff: 2 otos, 5 SAE, and 5 Peppered Corys.

Agreed, that sounds more like an oto to me.
