5.5 Gallon

I have a 5.5 Gallon tank with a red veiltail and I want to know, would be possible to get some other fish (not bettas, of course xD) in there with him? Would you suggest it, or would you say just keep him alone? The tank is kind of barren right now since I'm saving up money for some silk plants and stuff, so it just looks kind of lonely.

Had snails once. Was not a very nice thing. They multiplied and took over my tank entirely. They ate my fish ;-;

I would say he'd be better off by himself. I have two bettas in their own five gallon tanks and I just used alot of plants and caves and things to make it look less lonely :)

Captain: Red and blue, still dont know the tail type in a 10 gallon divided with...
Neptune: white crowntail
Kokomo: cellophane veiltail in 5 gallon tank

Apollo: marble crowntail in a 5 gallon

RIP Cosmo

If you really want something, get some shrimp. I wouldn't do anything else though. You could probably have up to 5 shrimp in a 5 gallon.

Shrimp can be good or bad, some get nippy at betta fins, others are fine. In my two 5.5 gallon I keep proven friendly ghost shrimp. I gave the nippy ones to a friend and kept going through them until I found 5 that leave my betta alone.

I also have 3 ottos in each tank. It is over stocked by alot though. I do water changes twice a week and both are densly planted.

Thanks everyone. I'll give it some time, fix up the tank, and then decide where to go from there.

yeah but no offence i think this bloke (or lady sorry) would like some colour and something that you dont have to look into the depth of your tank to see, has anyone put harlequins with bettas? i have an idea they're a community fish, or marble hatchets! cept there not colourful more weirdly shapped!
but Research it first!
