I actually have two spotted cories in my 5 gal. betta tank. I only have two in there bc they were a lone pair in a tank at Petco.

I haven't had any problems with overload at all. As long as you keep up with weekly water changes, you should be fine. My betta loves to play hide and seek with them.

They get Hikari sinking wafers and love them. Sadly, so does my betta (who will eat anything really).

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

Wow, there seem to be plenty of differing opinions and experiences.

We'll see how things go. I'm in no rush. I'm still trying to get the water params just so.

I'm going to stay out of this, since all of my boys are completely alone, but I say good luck, to whatever you eventually decide.

Probably not as well as 4 or so but like I said, they were alone in a tank when I brought them home.

They're always together in my 5 gal. and I've had no issues with them getting along with my big boy.

2 cories can work, just because they generally shoal, doesnt mean they cant be happy healthy fish with just two in there.

the basic rule of thumb for small tropical fish is an inch per gallon. were not talking oscars here. if you are dilligent with your water changes, you can always do a little more than the "rule" its a basic guideline.

IMO you can do 3-4 cories. just stay on top of water changes

ive seen bettas eat shrimp

31 Betta Males
12 CrownTail
7 HalfMoon
5 DeltaTail
4 DoubleTail
3 Veil Tail

44 Betta Females
Round, Crown, Spade

65 gallon
55 gallon
35 gallon
2 - 20 gallon
4 - 10 gallon
16 - 1.5-2 gallon

MTS has struck, resistance is futile

Alright, thanks for the input from everyone. It's very much appreciated. I'll take into account everything I've heard people say before making a final decision.

So you think it would be ok to divide my 10 gallon, and put 2 corries on each side? with 2 Betta fish, one on each side.

I wouldn't divide it. I would put 4 cories and one betta in a 10 gallon.
