Post Pleco

at Christmas I am asking for a 5-10 gallon tank, would a pleco be good in a tropical comunity with a betta inside of there, or maby a female comunity of bettas (sororitiy or however you spell it) anyway would a pleco be alright in there? or would a betta go after it? otherwise you could tell me what other alge eaters would be good in there.

Kay, thanks: K stiles

I remember you already asked this question, and I told you there's no way a pleco will fit in a 5 or 10 gallon. Plecos are HUGE.

You're better off with an Oto.

I would say noo way. Plecos can grow to be positively huge. All of the plecos I've owned have grown to be over 1 foot long, but I had them in a 55 gallon tank so that was okay. They also get more aggressive as the grow, so it may attack smaller fish. In a five gallon, you should only have on betta. You can also add a couple of shrimp in there, but only if it's a cycled tank. If you want to start a sorority it MUST BE AT LEAST 10 GALLONS, with AT LEAST 4 girls, and not over 7! I've also heard it's better to have an odd number. If you get a ten gallon, you can probably get some otos (but they like to school, so about 3 would be good), or cories (same as otos). Anything else would likely get too big, or too aggressive.

thanks I think I'll start a sorority (or however you spell it) with 5 to 7 females in a ten gallon, with 3 corries or ottos (if I can find them) with a heater inside. Sound good to you guys? (:

That sounds pretty good. Remember a good filter. And becareful with your girlies. I almost lost my Rosalie in a bad fight. Lots of hiding places was my first mistake when making my sorority. Remember to post piccys!
