I've seen lots of threads on here about ghost shrimp and a lot of people have them. I've heard that sometimes the bettas will pick on them or even eat them, so it's up to you.

What's wrong with ADFs? I think they're cute, anyway...

Ghost shrimp are awesome as well.

ADF's IMO (for me) were hard to care for cus they seemed very fragile. i loved mine those the few months i cared for them, but other people on here have had better luck caring for them. I have never done shrimp though so i dunno bout them. I love my snail. he/she is a character, but you don't want snails ;P hopefully someone else on here is more helpful, i just realized i blabbered away and ended up being no help.

<3 it's ok, I know I want something else in my tank, Evan is getting more and more interested with Lean and I want something to "distract" him, maybe. I still think adf's are pbly going to be the choice.
Is it possible to have just a couple of each? I have all the thing for ADFs including tongs for feeding, but I have issues with numbers so having 4 is making me second guess it.

What I meant by iffy is I don't know like exactly how many, i know i want to do pairs, but I hate the number 4. I'm sure once they're in they'll be fine tho.

What do you mean by 'distract him'? Most of mine are in divided tanks and they'll flare occasionally but they eventually love the company. I just put plants in front of the divider on both sides so they don't have a full view of each other. If you want to get ADFs go ahead, but they'll get used to each other eventually. The two that I've had for over a year actually get depressed when they're separated.

Yeah I mean like Evander FLIPS when I feed them beacuse Leander can't tell that he's chasing food on the OTHER side of the divider, so Evan flares and chases him. It dosent bothern Leander but it seems to really make Evan freak!

and i added a couple plants to cover it a little too.

I'm pretty sure i'll just get the ADFs and get a couple mini pots or caves for them to hide in.

Don't worry about it. Seriously! I had two of my most aggressive bettas in a divided tank and they flared for a while, but now they just love the company. I don't think that ADFs would distract them much anyway..
