Setting up tank need mates for betta

I'm setting up a large divided tank for my bettas and I'm thinking about putting some red cherry shrimps in each section with the bettas. I know these guys would crawl over the divider so keeping them in just one section will be impossible.

My other option is snails or ghost shrimp. Snails i read the bio load is pretty high so not a fan of these. And had a bad experience with ghost shrimp a while back.

Im looking for something that will help clean up the tank. I know they won't replace water changes but picking up extra food would be nice.

Nerite snails have a lower bioload than most snails. They clean walls and plants, too.

Cherry shrimp are really lovely though, if your fish gets along with them.
