Smile Mystery snails in a 5 Gal?

i just got my Betta sushi -name stolen from someone on here - and his tank is looking a bit lifeless - besides him- and was wondering if adding a few snails or shrimp was possible for this size tank , and what the upkeep would be. currently sushi is in a 5 Gal filtered 80 F tank with a few plants -plastic- and a nice hidy hole for him . also would i have to change the plastic plants to live ones? Thanks for the help.

Every Betta is different in their tolerance of other critters in the tank IMO/E, if you have plenty of hiding places shrimp could work, live plants like java moss would be helpful for the shrimp but not needed per se'
Snail would be okay too, again it is up to the are more tolerant than others...
IMO-5g needs twice weekly 50% water changes with or without the added critters to provide quality water and to prevent issues....
Love to see some pic.....
