Does anyone have MTS?

The guy at the LFS gave me 4 MTS today (I think he has a crush on my roommate LOL). They're really cute but I've never had them before and I don't know if I should keep them or not so I have some questions.

Will they eat well on algae wafers? I don't actually have any algae in my tanks so I supplement my snails and ghost shrimp with algae wafers and micro pellets.

Do they breed like crazy? That is the reason I don't keep pond snails because I don't want to deal with an out break. Also are they m/f or hermaphroditic?

If they have separate sexes then I can just put one snail in each tank so they don't have a chance to make babies.

I was thinking about putting them in my spawning / fry tanks to help create some infusoria (sp?).

Yeah Mysteries are what I have. I also saw some nerite snails at the store so I'm gonna probably go back next week to see how much they cost and get some when I get my ghost shrimp.

If it turns out I don't want these MTS I'll mail them to ya ;)

I have no clue. They haven't hatched yet. LOL

The Mom is gold. Obviously don't know what the dad is... I'm hoping for some different colors. I don't know about snail genetics though..

I think with snails its what you see is what you get. If you have gold snails you'll get gold. But if you have a few different colors in the same tank and don't know who the daddy was I don't know what you'll get.

Trumpet snails are livebearer and one can soon be many, reproduce pretty fast, they borrow in the substrate and usually are not seen much during the daylight until you get a good population of them, the more you feed the faster they reproduce, they can do some good on algae in the tank but not much, I would not add any extra food for them unless you want more.......some can be really pretty with different color shells etc...I have some that are over 1 inch long and each spiral is a different color or shade with strips and dashes and dots.....
