tetras and bettas

I have recently upgraded my tank to a 2ft one and I was wondering if anyone has put head and tail light tetras (aka beacon fish) in with their betta before.
I am going to get some panda cories too.

I dont want cardinals or neons as I find them to be abit nippy.

The research I have done on the beacon fish all says that they are excellent community fish and great for the beginer.

Interested in knowing what you all think.......

Thanks
