They're super, super easy. All you have to do is measure, glue the binding onto the tank using aquarium silicone, cut the mesh pieces to size, and slide them in. Very cheap and VERY easy. The hardest part is usually tracking down the materials. I found the plastic needlepoint mesh at Michael's craft store, and the plastic report cover binders at Staples.

I definitely agree with the others' statements about tankmates. Unfortunately five gallons isn't enough space for small schooling fish. These are very social animals that swim in schools of hundreds to thousands in the wild--keeping only two or three by themselves isn't very humane from an enrichment standpoint, and many need lots and lots of space to exercise and express their natural behaviors.

Report bindings. Like if you have a book report and you slide it into those reoprt binders instead of stapleing...the stuff teachers go crazy for lol.

Who am I? Well I am a Junior Member of the International Betta Congress and a breeder of white HMPKs, red dragon HMPKs, black/red dragon HMPKs, metallic multi HMPKs, blue masked HMPKs, and now multi color HMs. Soon to add black HMs. I will be showing in New Breeder class in fall of 2012.

You want one like this: http://www.discountofficeitems.com/o...e=pricegrabber

or this: http://www.supplylinkusa.com/gbc/pol...40-pages-clear

Basically one with a plastic spine that the plastic cover and the paper slide into easily. I think I purchased some like the one in the second link because they were black.

Here's a picture of different types of plastic needlepoint canvas: http://0.tqn.com/d/crossstitch/1/0/z/A/-/-/pcanvas.jpg
I chose the type that is behind all the others. Luckily I was able to find it in the color black. ;x

Unfortunately it's bad forum etiquette to link to posts on other forums, so I can't just link you the easy way. However, if you search for "DIY Tank Divider" in google, you'll come up with lots of different guides on how to do basically the same thing we're talking about.
