Otos?

I wanted to get some otocinulus(sp?) for my 5gal, with 2 bettas. its divided, so there are no fights, just some flaring haha. they get along well, though, so its all okay. I wanted to get maybe 2 otos for the tank though, can they live together? Or, should i get 2 for each side? I know otos like to be in groups..

NOOOOO!

Ottos get HUGE. They need very large tanks (75-100 gallons I think is the minimum) They also need to eat alot of algae. You're pretty much 100% stocked with 2 male Bettas in a 5 gal. You could get some shrimp or maybe a snail for each Betta. But there is a possibility of those being eaten.

Otto's stay under 2 inches.....
But they need larger tanks to satisfy their algea needs.

I only have 1 betta left, but he's a cool blue marble!

Well, they have a hard time accepting prepared foods. Some do, some don't. They need like 30 gallons if they don't accept prepared foods, and ten gallons if they do. Not to mention they are schooling fish. Some algea eating shrimp and pond snails would be better.

Ah oops. I mixed them up (Yes you can laugh XD)

But still 5 gallons is 100% with 2 male Bettas, so what I said before still stands.

A divided 5 gallon with 2 bettas is pretty much your maximum. Otos need to be in groups of 3 or so, meaning 3 on each side if you want some on each side... which would bring your stocking level through the roof. And as said above, they don't always accept prepared food. And, seeing as most are caught in the wild via chemicals, they are pretty sensitive to begin with. As well as that, seeing as its divided, there wouldn't be that much space for your otos should they have to swim away and avoid your betta.
