Aeration

Do tetras, shrimp, or snails require a bubbler? Also, would a filter provide enough oxygen. Specifically the Tetra Whisper 2-10i in a 10gal. Any information on that filter would be particularly appreciated.

The shrimp and snails don't need extra aeration and the filter will be fine for the tetras.

I only have 1 betta left, but he's a cool blue marble!

As long as the water is getting churned up a bit it's fine.

Who am I? Well I am a Junior Member of the International Betta Congress and a breeder of white HMPKs, red dragon HMPKs, black/red dragon HMPKs, metallic multi HMPKs, blue masked HMPKs, and now multi color HMs. Soon to add black HMs. I will be showing in New Breeder class in fall of 2012.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure I have the Betta specific info memorized so now it's on to his future tankmates. 10 gallons with a half grown Betta in it is just so empty.

As others have said, as long as the surface is rippling from the filter you should be fine. If you're still worried my favourite option is to use some live plants. Live plants will help keep the water cleaner, oxygenated and provide lots of hiding places for the tank mates.

There are many low-care (dare I say no-care?) and cheap plants you can find at most pet stores depending on your location; Anubias, anacharis, java fern, java moss, water wisteria are just a few of the most common.

In a 10 gallon I highly recommend live plants. They can be cheaper than a bubbler and do more.

Howl - Royal Blue Veil Tail
Blaze - Blue and Red Delta
Mi - Blue Lady

The only plants I can get locally are the bulbs sold at walmart. They're in the plan too. Small town USA ya know.

Ahha, you could also get a bubble stone and a t-valve splitter at walmart like I did and use that with an airator (which Idk if you have, but tetras filters use em sometimes..) and just shove that in there for oxygenation and playtime for les fishes ;D

I don't have the filter yet so I don't exactly know if it has one either. I just don't want to buy something and then find out I don't have what I need to keep it alive.

Also, just so I have my bases covered since I don't know what that walmart has specifically would smooth natural gravel be okay for barbs. I have pictures if necessary.

DON'T GET THE WHISPER. D:

It was too powerful for my halfmoon, ripped up his fins from trying to get away from it.

I use an air pump filter. Instead of using the air pump that came with it I use a gang valve since I wanted a bubbler, too.

My betta actually loves the bubbler. He bites the bubbles as they float up. Lmao.
