So The Big Question: 2 vs 4

so ive come to the conclusion, i dont want to add another fish to the tank...to my newly heavily planted tank other then Elvis

HOWEVER, i am considering 2 types "maintenance" drones

i dunno which would be better...

either get 4 Ghost Shrimp, or 2 Snails......

my only fear is (with either that is) that im going to wake up one day and have a booming population of either .... lol....

i guess my biggest fear is 1: Elvis may decide to have a Shrimp snack (not to worried theyre only 2.99 a piece at my LPS) or 2: Watching Elvis decide to play Snail Oriented Volley Ball....

-Red (CT)
-Lucky (goldfish ((wifes fish lol))

Wow... You could find cherry shrimp cheaper online i am sure. XD And they are much prettier. When i plant my tanks, i am going to invest in cherry shrimp.

I have three snails, and I find them so funny. They do have a large bioload though. From what I understand, ghost shrimps have little bioload.
I've never had shrimp though, so I don't know much about them.
If you did get a large population of shrimp, I think your betta would eat some of them...

You should be able to prevent population growth of both the snails and the ghost shrimp. The snails lay large and vary noticeable egg sacks at the surface of the water that can easily be removed. Brine shrimp larva require brackish water to survive and grow. So you don't need to worry about that.

2.99 for a ghost shrimp is really expensive, they are only 35 cents at my LFS. They don't really live long (1 year usually) and have a high mortality rate so for 2.99 a piece I'd go for the snails.

At your prices for the shrimp, I'd go with snails. I picked up fifteen ghost shrimp at 33 cents a pop and two weeks later four have made it through. So at 2.99.... yeah, go for the snails. xD

I've got snails and ghost shrimp living together and it works just fine for me. C: I'd say get a couple more ghosts than you want though, as will with probably lose some.
