Tank mates for 10gal

I'm new to fish keeping and recently got a ten gallon tank with four female bettas. I only had them for three days now and they seem to be timid and don't really interact with each other so far (this will probably change). I have a driftwood and 2 caves for them to hide in as well as 5 plants. Am I able to add more tank mates and if so, what kind? If not, is it overstocked?

Any other tips for a newbie betta keeper would be appreciated.

The best tank mates for bettas are snails or shrimps I'd say...

You can add like 2 apple snails to help clean your tank (like 5%), they are quite cute evil looking snails xD!

or like 2-4 shrimps.

Although they (snails or shrimps) might end up eating your plants. :V

That's me on the photo alright.

With four girls in there, you've technically given them each 2.5 gallons to themselves should they separate off. That's a pretty good way to keep it. Add any more real fish and you'll be pushing your stock limit. Another girl would be a good idea.

Like SillyCone said, shrimp or snails would be your best bet if you really want more in there. Keep an eye on the snails though... they breed fast.

Apple snails actually are slow breeders, after the mating, it takes like 1-2 weeks to put the eggs than 1-2 weeks for them to hatch (if I recall well), and if they do breed the eggs are on the top of the tank in which you can just take it off. =]

They are some awesome snails lol!
