Female Betta Question

I hope to set up a female sorority of 4-6 females in a 10G tank in about 5 months or so (after I complete my research for care of lady bettas, etc.).

But my question is, if I fall in love with a single lady on a trip to the store before then, could I go ahead and keep one or two females in separate individual tanks until I get my sorority set up? Or would they then not be able to get along in a group?

From what I've read it seems like its best to get them at the same time. If you found one now that you liked and then tried to introduce her to other in 5 months I'm sure it would be difficult and may lead to more fighting since she would be used to being by herself.

Its fine.
My sorority has 7 fish, 2 of them i have had for over 2 months in individual 1 gallon tanks. They just tend to grow a bit faster. The aggression will be spread out among the group.

Betta-less at the moment :(

I just got 3 female betta for my 10 gallon about 1 month ago. Mine were in the same tank at Petsmart. Of course after I got them, I then read that you should have more to keep two from ganging up on one. Except for the first evening where they kind of harassed each other, they seem to be getting along.

I have read different opinions for how to keep the females from fighting amongst themselves. It seems to be that it is easier to add them to the tank at the same time together, or if you are familiar with the personalities, to add the least aggressive first, waiting a while and then adding the next etc. But check out what others say. I'm new to keeping female bettas.

They should get along fine. Mine do - I got them all at different times. They will establish a pecking order at first, so they may fight, have rips, etc... But they should get along after a week or so.

Just because I don't type with candy and rainbows doesn't mean I'm being mean.
My opinions are based on research and experience. Ask for help!
