Platies?

Do platies do well as tankmates with male bettas? I have a male halfmoon in a ten gallon and I was considering getting either some cory's or something but do platies work? i know there will be fry but I have plenty of bettas that will eat them up!

Female halfmoon

I've had platies with bettas before with no trouble and yes bettas are very good at catching Platy fry. Had a betta named sushi, in three years only one baby platy lived the rest all became dinner.

In my experience, corys are better since they stay on the bottom. But platys can work just fine. Keep in mind though, you may have to have a plan b if your betta doesn't get along with them. I had my copper HM in with platys, and he was fine for a while. I added one more and he started chasing all of them. So I switched him with my red VT and everything is fine now. They get along well. Just keep a close eye on them for a while.

Tanks- 55 gal(in progress)-Common pleco, Angels, lemon and rummynose tetra, blue rams; 29 gal planted- rasboras, corys, otos, clown plec, shrimp; 10 gal- juvenile goldfish; 6 gal planted- betta

Other Pets-Maggie(Tricolor Paint Mare),
Lily(Sun Conure), Zoe and Melina(Budgies), Leonardo- Bearded Dragon, Pilot and Phoenix(Golden Retrievers), Beckham(german shepard/akita), Myrtle and Richard(hermit crabs)
