Question Did I make the right decision?

I was picking a betta at petsmart yesterday and saw one is blue crown tail and it looks average size and swims very strong and seems very aggressive. One is halfmoon red and look much smaller and I chose it and put it in my 20 gallon tank and it has 2 mollies and 2 guppies inside it and all four disturb the half-moon a little bit yesterday but he still wouldnt flare. However after their first meal, they stop disturbing him and sometimes swim across each other without problem however the betta stills avoiding them and hanging by himself. So I'm asking did I make the right choice for getting the really small no flaring at guppies red halfmoon or should I have get the energetic, more aggressive blue crown tail.

P.s. I think the red halfmoon won't flare because it is so small (baby).

Him keeping his distance is better then him going after the others. I would be more worried about the Guppies and Mollies possibly bothering him. Keep an eye on them. Those fish are both schooling types and tend to like a larger group 6+ of the same type. If he is pestered by them I would take him out and give him his own house.

it might just be trying to adjust to the tank..the little guy isnt used to tank buddies so hes probably stressed out a little from being moved and bothered by the other fishies. If you notice negative changes in his behavior put him in another seperate tank all by himself till he gets a little bigger and older then re introduce him to the community tank :) just watch for signs of negative or positive changes in his behavior and he will be just fine:) im sure your little halfmoon boy is adorabe :) good luck

He is most of the time being left alone now, once any fish get close to him, he just dash away. Also how old is my betta? He is roughly 2 inches or shorter, he is very small if competed to other bettas. He has beautiful red tai. He is roughly the size of my guppy!!!!

He is probobly just getting used to his new home! :) Give him about a week and he should be good, and remember more energetic doesn't always mean better! As long as he isn't showing signs of sickness he should be fine :).
Best of luck!
