Betta and Rams??

Hello all,
I have a 15g tank that will soon be heavily planted with a heater and cycled. I will be adding 4 albino Cory, 4 Rams and I was thinking of adding 1 male betta. Is that a good idea?

The Rams are cichlids, right? It's heavily advised that cichlids not be mixed with anything but cichlids. I'm also not sure how big Ram Cichlids get off the top of my head, but the general rule of thumb is 1" of fish per gallon. Try not to overstock, too.

I wouldn't risk it, at least not in a 15 gallon. Maybe in like....a 75 gallon with a ton of plant cover, but not in a 15. While Rams are small and relatively peaceful as far as Cichlids go as well as lower-level fish, they are still Cichlids and still territorial.....its just not enough room for two potentially aggressive and territorial species.

Instead, maybe look into bumping up your cory numbers to 6....they like to be in larger shoals.

^I'll do that. the cory are on sale for $1.49 so ill pick up 6 of them and 4 Rams. From what I have read, the betta would be the aggressor and not the rams. i just wont risk it; I'll have to get more bettas some othrn way.

thanks

Oh, you'd be surprised...I've heard some horror stories about Rams; it would all depend on the personality of the fish, but its very likely one or both would be quite aggressive towards the other.

You could always pic up a nice Medium+sized Kritter Keeper and small heater and use that for a betta ;)
