Shrimp questions

just bought some ghost shrimp, large ones, and I'm going to QT them, of course. I've heard they can climb, so I'm not sure how full to fill the tank. It's a 2.65 gal, with some plants I'm QTing as well.

The cover for this tan has some vents, so I don't know if that will be an issue, or if I can just leave the water level down a couple inches?

When shrimp escape...it is usually up the heater cord, airline hose and sometimes the filter itself-depending on how its made.....as long as they are happy and the water is fine....they usually will not try to escape.....too crowded, poor water, too hot-cold...etc....and they will try to get out of the tank...since you also have live plants they may not even try to get out....

A little hint with ghost shrimp-when you go to buy them-try to get the smallest you can get and at least 1 female that is berried-they are really short lived to start (1-2yr)-the bigger=older...also, if they are white....don't get them- they usually turn white a week or so before they die.....I call them zombi shrimp...the walking dead...lol......

Because they molt-usually they will not have any parasite problems and you can't treat them even if they did....really sensitive to copper based products...and large doses of Excel....
