A very bossy lady!!

My new sorority, has a new boss in town and she's the most dominating betta I've ever had! Doesn't like the other ladies being in the spotlight so they spend a lot of time hiding and swimming away from her...have any of you guys had a similar problem..not quite sure what to do about it...feel like she's making the other girls miserable!

Never had taht problem but some females are not sorority material... you might want to consider a different setup for her.

Yeah, some girls are just too agressive(or easily stessed) to be in groups.

If she's doing more then just being the "alpha" then you can try removing/replacing her and giving her her own tank.

My wishlist:
-duckweed- -black and white marble, anything but VT-
-javamoss- -koi marble, anything but VT)
-hatchable brine shrimp eggs-
-indian almond leaves-
-Melano Halfmoon male-
-steel blue or royal blue CT or HM female-

Was she just added? Sometimes if the sorority is already established and you add a new female, there is a sense she is not part of the group and can be violent and defensive, which goes away one she becomes accustomed to her surroundings and all the girls get used to one another. Just keep on eye on them.

If it is very violent, you can try a "time out" I call it. I float the aggressive female in a clear jar or small tank in the sorority so everyone can get a look at her and she can get a look at everyone else. Sometimes I keep her in there for a week, replacing the water with tank water twice a day so it doesn't get bad. Then release her after a few days or a week. You can also rearrange a few decor items and/or add more plants.

In the end, like Vil said, there are some females who need to be alone. Trust your guy so no one gets hurt!

They were all just added, she chases the others away, sometimes nips but isn't overtly aggressive...I think I will try a time out with her, because even during feeding times she makes it difficult for the others to eat due to the chasing...I think I will also add more tall plants to create some more cover for the others...

Sounds good :) Keep us updated. Feel free to ask me sorority questions...I have female giants mixed with small to regular sized hmpks without issues.
