New 6.6g: stocking ideas

Hi everyone!

I have a new 6.6 gallon tank that I'm fishless cycling right now for my betta (Charlie) and am looking for input on tankmates! Pics are of the cycling tank & Charlie's current 1g set-up. New tank is 8.13" W X 24" L X 9.25" H, heated, filtered, sand substrate w/river rocks (I think that's what they're called) & planning on more plants. I also plan on moving Charlie's homemade sponge filter to the new tank with him.

Ideas so far:
-1 african dwarf frog, 3-4 pygmy, panda or other small cories & Charlie
-Just the ADF (maybe 2) & Charlie
-Just the cories (maybe 5) & Charlie
-Divided tank w/another betta
-Just Charlie

Charlie seems to be somewhat bored by himself, so I'd like to set it up with tankmates (or divided) so he will have something to keep him entertained. The first option is the one I'd really like to do, but I think that might be pushing the tank capacity.

I'd go with just the one Betta OR the divided tank. You really shouldn't add ADFs (you need at least two, and that tank is too small) or other fish to a tank that size. Dividing it would be great, though!

Sequin (m), Shortcake (f), Westley (m), and Sir Righty of Walton (m).

I'd say either divide it with another betta or have it for just him.
If you want other fish, I believe that you'll need at least 10-15 gallons. :)

Just because I don't type with candy and rainbows doesn't mean I'm being mean.
My opinions are based on research and experience. Ask for help!

I Second both the above, dividing would be best... As youlovegnats pointed out, a tank at last 10 gal. is ideal for tankmates... The only fish that would be suitable for your current setup if you dont go with the divided would be a few small cories....
Btw, can you pm me how you made you sponge filter? Mine for some reason end up falling apart.

Hmm, well I have a lot of fish...

I think divided will definitely be the best, you could also add some ghost shrimp.

Ok...I guess that was just wishful thinking on my part. For the sponge filter, I used a blue aquarium sponge And made a small opening (a little smaller than the tubing I used) w/a pair of scissors. I then shoved airline tubing into the hole about halfway down into the sponge. To keep it from floating up, I used a suction cup (which came with a useless betta bowl heater) to secure the tubing to the tank wall & cut another small hole in the sponge to stick a river rock in.
