Shrimp questions

I'm getting curious about ghost shrimp now, since I keep seeing mention of them in the forum. What are the minimum requirements for ghost shrimp and would I need to supplement them with any kind of food?

I would appreciate some feedback. I don't know if I would want to put shrimp in with him or not yet. I'm thinking he'll probably see a snack.

I have similar concerns myself, but u think if there is enough cover and foliage he might be ok. Give him hiding spots perhaps

I don't think my tank could support ghost shrimp. Rosso doesn't leave any leftovers and I'm kinda iffy about whether or not there's enough hiding spots. My betta has a little too hearty of an appetite, too...

Haha. Then maybe Ghost Shrimp aren't for you.

I have a 1G Bowl with a few of them, they do well. :3

I'm going to give it a try next week. I'm going to move the tank objects to keep his mind occupied for a while

That was kinda what I was wondering, too. Do I need real plants? What would make a good food source for them...like I said, Rosso doesn't leave leftovers. Nor would he if I offered more him more food. Oo.

Ghost shrimp are super easy to care for but tend to be snacks for bettas.
Out of my 17, i Have 2 that will tolerate them ^^;

Having a lot of cover will help the success rate of your shrimp.

Ghost shrimp are cleaners and have a super low bioload so you can stick them in about anything you keep clean. You will need to supplement food them, your betta wont leave any food since they tend to be pigs. I use algae wafers that I cut into smaller pieces so there wont be any extra food laying around to rot.

I think if you have live plants, you wouldnt need to add extra food for them since they will eat the algae and nibble the plants. Not 100% sure on this though, I dont have live plants.

Mostly this is from experience so if anyone is more informed on them, please correct me c:

Thanks, emeraldsky. That was the kind of answer I was needed. I will take this into consideration. I need time to think about this one. I really don't know if Rosso will like the ghost shrimp or think that I'm giving him a snack.
