Guppies and Bettas

Most sources told me they didnt go together well. Well, someone dropped off a ton of guppies at my store, along with a few other fish. They passed quarantine, so my manager told me I was welcome to any of them, and that if the betta and the guppies didnt get along, I was welcome to bring them back. (He also said if any of the guppies I took ended up female that he'd take them back, but I'm pretty sure I got all males like I wanted.) So, I grabbed three male guppies that weren't too brightly colored, just some nice black, gold, and silver dotted colorations, and the lone dwarf cory cat of some breed, and took them home. (Dont worry, I've got a shipment of cories coming in on Tuesday. He wont be alone long.)

So I put them in after acclimation and a water change/dead leaf cleanout after no flaring at the guppies through the plastic bag, everyone's living together happily. I've no intention of getting more guppies and I'll just trim down my planned cory school by a couple of fish and it'll be okay. :) I'm going to get a feeding ring and possibly a betta log or leaf hammock to feed Sora on/in so the guppies don't eat his food. I got sinking shrimp pellets for the cories, that also have veggies in the ingredients, that were also on sale! :D

So yeah, my tank's really taking shape.

That's pretty awesome. I'm trying to add a couple something's to my tank as well.

Just out of curiosity, what size tank do you have?

Ten Gallon, so not adding too many fish, just some pygmy cories after those guys.

I know quite a few people who have kept guppies and bettas together succesfully. It is so dependent on the betta. :)

Life.
