Ghost Shrimp Need To Eat Too! Piggy Betta

Okay, new Betta is an adorable pig. He gets along fine with the 5 ghost shrimp in his tank, but he eats all of the food. I've tried sinking food for the ghost shrimp while he was busy eating his frozen shrimp but as soon as he sees any movement he comes swimming over to grab it, even out of my hand! Then....he will go around the tank floor like a vacuum eating ANY leftovers. lol As cute as it is, I'm worried about the shimpies not getting enough food. Any ideas?

My bettas used to do this too..... It was really cute! You could possibly weigh down a shrimp pellet, or algae wafer with distracting the Betta on the other side of the tank, if there are slightly small pellets and some plants In there. You could easily sustain about 1-5 shrimp

Thanks, I'll give that a try. The shrimp are swimming all over trying to find food right now and I feel bad for them. lol

Lol. They should be fine as long as they get some source of small food. They eat a relatively small amount of food. I would try adding some flakes too as most bettas find them undisirable but ghost shrimp love them. Especially the babies!

I've been using the flakes for the shrimp, but my Betta seems to love them as well. He'll eat anything I think. lol

Hmmm. Have you tried using any shrimp pellets?

No, haven't tried that. Can you get those at Petsmart or Petco? I'm going to try distracting him with his food and putting some flakes back where the ghost shrimp like to hang out.

I find them as my PetCo. But I haven't tried petsmart yet though, they usually have a broader range of products though so I would expect them to carry them

I'll look for those next time I'm over there. Thanks for the help, I'm happy to know I'm not the only one with a piggy betta. :)
