Cool Yawning

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows why they do it? I think it is so cute.

Maybe they are trying to catch an object not visible from your eye or from certain angles because of the reflection from the light meaning that they are constantly giving that yawning effect while trying to catch it,

It's the labyrinth.

It's seen when they make bubble nests. The yawning is more like stretching the labyrinth organ.

Who am I? Well I am a Junior Member of the International Betta Congress and a breeder of white HMPKs, red dragon HMPKs, black/red dragon HMPKs, metallic multi HMPKs, blue masked HMPKs, and now multi color HMs. Soon to add black HMs. I will be showing in New Breeder class in fall of 2012.

Oh cool! That interesting to know. I always see them do it through the dividers trying to nip eachothers fins. Lol

It can also mean they are flushing their gills. It's cute but if they do it frequently it could mean they are not getting the oxygen they need, resulting from non-ideal water quality, physical injury to gills or labyrinth organ, or if he isn’t given access to the surface for air.
