Sex of betta fish

I am seriously wondering if Romeo is still young or if he is a female. How can I tell the difference of the sexes? He is a small delta tail

he appears to look male, female has eggspots, it is the white dot on there belly. and the male's "beards" show even without flaring, a beard is the black area in the gills. and males tend to have a bigger span at flaring then females do. and males build bubble nest, some females do to though

To me he looks like a boy, his fins seem too long to be a girl!!!Also his ventral fins are really really long, which would suggest he is a boy. This thread may help you:

I thought he a boy but it is good to check. He is very how would you say? a scardy cat? He swims away from his reflection all the time and never flares

I have no idea how old. He was smaller when I got him, so I am thinking 6 months old maybe?

If he is a she, she should have an ovipistor...

His fins are fairly short.. Here is my female veiltail... Really not much different than yours, only older...
