His Anal Fin seems to be like a Veiltail too. It's beginning to look like a Veil.

Over hundreds of bettas die in their small, dirty cups each day. Only you can help them live. Research and then save them, today!

Male and no not veil tail. A veil would be fully colored at this point. Thats a wild type male.

Who am I? Well I am a Junior Member of the International Betta Congress and a breeder of white HMPKs, red dragon HMPKs, black/red dragon HMPKs, metallic multi HMPKs, blue masked HMPKs, and now multi color HMs. Soon to add black HMs. I will be showing in New Breeder class in fall of 2012.

She just posted another pic. I dont recommend what she did, but do those look like breeding stripes?

She said she just put them together for a second to see if she could get a flare, but immediately separated them.

Too long bodied to be a girl, and young so the stripes aren't uncommon.

Stripes mean nothing regarding gender. Males get them as well.

IMO it's a traditional type of PK - female. The dorsal and anal seems too small to be male. It has a long body, suggesting it was crossed to long finned and explaining the long ventral. Further the picture shows that her gill covers doesn't open wide enough to be male.

my young veiltail, Jaecar, got those stripes. 8I just because you see 'breeding bars', that doesn't point to female. a better term for them would be 'submission bars', imo...

looks like a young male plakat to me. body reminds me of my Lulu, but the ventrals are way too long to be a female...
