Talking Little Delta Dude Rescued

So I went to the local big pet store for frozen foods and such, and there was this little Delta there, and I felt so bad for him! I don't breed Deltas, but he was the saddest light tangerine color, with red opercula, and a stringy brownish grey tail. All his fins are sad, and he had mucous trailing from both pectorals. He made it home, and into fresh water. After a few hours, I added medicated water to treat for myriad illnesses... but he wouldn't eat and just hung around the bottom. Wouldn't flare or anything. Today, his little scrawny body has a little pooch and is a little darker. I wonder what color he will turn out to be? He was very interested in frozen daphnia left over from feeding the fry, so thats some hope! I called him Trigger, on account of him being a "shooting-from-the-hip impulse buy). I will post pics when I can get some, but man what a sad chance he would have had, and now he is living like a betta king! :) Just sharing....

After three days, he is starting to flare now, and is looking much perkier! Here are pictures from the day I got him, and now.

Whoops, here is the photo from today. The second and third pics are of two other fish I rescued previously, both incorrectly labelled as "female betta"..... Um, the double tail is the father of my youngest fry, so we know Avery isnt a female, and the pretty Delta is Hutch..... one of the best nest builders I have ever seen...

Wow, even I didnt see the difference between Trigger three days ago and now until I posted the big pics.... my phone did a poor job taking them, but what a difference clean water, minimal medication, and good food can have in three days!!!

What a pretty thing he turned out to be. He's lucky you found him.

Could you elaborate on your medication and homecoming procedure? Thanks.

He has actually just been in a solution using Jungle's Lifeguard, but I don't like it. He isn't getting rid of the body slime very well, so I am going back to my old stand-by- a mixture of methylene blue, neomycin sulfate, and electrolytes. :) That seems to do the trick for me most of the time. I used to use BettaRevive, but its hard to find, and these are the ingredients. :)

He could be Vilkas' brother! (When in the right light, you can see he's actually that shade or orange)
