A less-than-green-thumb: plants in danger!

Hi everyone!

So, I recently decided to try real plants in the aquarium. This idea was a bad one, considering that I'm severely flora-challenged and I've never managed to keep a plant alive.

I bought a moss ball; I'm hoping I can keep him alive, at least...

But, I also bought an Amazon sword. I (stupidly) researched the plant after I brought it home, and found that it needs iron to live. But, my water conditioner package says that it "removes heavy metals, such as iron, that may harm the fish".

How the heck am I supposed to feed this plant if iron is going to hurt the fish? :squint:

Fertilizers will contain amounts of iron that are safe.. Usually best to fertilize 2 days after conditioning the water.
I'm not totally sure, the iron isn't removed, it's made so the fish can't be hurt, but it's still there. Things don't just disappear. The question is whether or not plants can use this iron. :/
