Likely to change color?

Specific to the grey "dusting" at the base of Iv's fins and belly, any ideas if that will become another color, or stay grey? I haven't really seen any red crowntails with grey, too. I don't know how old he is--he's about 1 1/2" long discounting fins.

Otherwise, I'd describe his colors as a silver/red body (in the right light, he has scale-thick horizontal stripes between white/silver and red which I have decided aren't stress stripes lol), red fins with white-tipped ventrals (the others are still growing), and a red/white marble face.

And unfortunately, that was the best picture I could get of the zippy devil. LOL

my betta, Honeycomb, was pure yellow with cellophane/white-tipped fins when i got him. Over the past year, he has been turning black and now has blue iridescence in his tail. I am excited to see what color he turns out with.

Your guy is beautiful! If you just got him, he will color up, 90% guaranteed.

Have a look in my albums and you can see how he has transformed!

It's possible. I have a CT that started off red cambodian sort of like your guy and now has a magenta body and bright crimson spikes with blue-violet towards their centers. I think the fun of it is seeing what you get once they are taken care of. :)

Thanks for all the feedback! :D
I know his face is starting to fill in with more red just from the first week I've had him. :P
I'm on vacation right now, and am excited to check out a pet store I spotted yesterday (there aren't any spectacular ones where I live).
Here's to perhaps watching my betta change color! lol
